Nifty slips to 22,698.85 as Reliance and Infosys fall, even as Jio Platforms closes 27% above its IPO price

Jio Platforms had a strong first day, but its parent Reliance fell over 3% and IT stocks slid on an Infosys guidance cut. L&T's record orders and auto stocks limited the damage ahead of the US Fed decision.

Wednesday was Jio Platforms' first day on the stock exchanges, and the new listing did well. Its parent, Reliance Industries, did not. Reliance's fall, together with a slide in IT stocks, pulled the benchmarks lower for a second straight day.

Jio's debut, Reliance's slide

Reliance, which owns a large stake in Jio, fell 3.19% to ₹1,158 on NSE. The reports we read did not give one clear reason. Once a subsidiary lists separately, investors can buy it directly instead of through the parent, which sometimes weighs on the parent's shares. Reliance reports its own September-quarter results on 30 October.
